Chapter 1-3: Hunger

(If the links are in black text, sorry sir)

Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION

A. Background of the story

World Hunger and Poverty are actually the same. According to global issues written by Anup Shah “meaningful long-term alleviation to hunger is rooted in the alleviation of poverty, as poverty leads to hunger.” (http://www.globalissues.org/issue/6/world-hunger-and-poverty) Meaning Hunger and poverty is really the same. Hunger is a terrible symptom of world poverty. People who are poor can’t afford food for themselves, this is where dependency comes in, If people keep relying on the government to have a solution to world hunger then the increase of hunger will continue, why? The government has done so little about this issue and yet it’s like they don’t even try to solve it.

Population is not a cause of hunger. Like the first background of study it is also under Global Issues written by Anup Shah “People are hungry because they cannot afford food, not because the population is growing so fast that food is becoming scarce”. (http://www.globalissues.org/article/200/population-and-feeding-the-world). That phrase is absolutely correct. The community always complains that population is the root cause of hunger and poverty. They complain that the population makes the food supply run out, but it doesn’t. Some people from other countries can’t afford food why? It is because they are born poor not because they are overpopulated

“The People” say that Food and Agricultural Resources is also one of the problems that hunger and poverty are facing. As said in Global issues by Anup Shah “We often hear about people’s desire to solve world hunger, or to be able to feed the world and help alleviate the suffering associated with it.” Like the population, Food Resources is not a cause of hunger. It is also stated there that: “If efforts are only directed at providing food, or improving food production or distribution, then the structural root causes that create hunger, poverty and dependency would still remain.” (http://www.globalissues.org/issue/749/food-and-agriculture-issues) The government has already increased the food production. The only problem is not all people afford it

Solving world hunger means solving world poverty. Accordng to Global Issues by Anup Shah “Without a drastic reorientation of policies, it will be impossible to meet the 2015 goal, and hunger may actually increase. While official documents prepared for the meeting decry a “lack of will” and call for “more resources” to be directed at reducing hunger, the fact is that more fundamental changes are needed.” (http://www.globalissues.org/article/8/solving-world-hunger-means-solving-world-poverty)  The government always thought of increasing food resources is the only solution to world hunger and poverty, what they should do is how to use the food resources correctly. Raising prices of food won’t help decreasing people who are starving; it will only make it worse obviously.

These problems are related to each other in a way. Hunger is considered to be the number one issue that the people are facing not just today but even from the past few years. Hunger and Poverty has never been solved and it is like a virus, it keeps on increasing. “World hunger exists because: (1) colonialism, and later subtle monopoly capitalism, dispossessed hundreds of millions of people from their land; the current owners are the new plantation managers producing for the mother countries; (2) the low-paid undeveloped countries sell to the highly paid developed countries because there is no local market [because the low-paid people do not have enough to pay] … and (3) the current Third World land owners, producing for the First World, are appendages to the industrialized world, stripping all natural wealth from the land to produce food, lumber, and other products for wealthy nations.” The only possible and working solution to that are Land reforms, Jobs and Education for countries who are poor like Africa. Hunger in the Philippines is different from hunger in other countries but the government in the Philippines nor in other countries hasn't done anything about it. They might increase food production but again some people are poor so how are they going to purchase food. These problems have a huge effect on every human in different countries. The researcher found this interesting because this paper tackles and discusses what can other people do, it’s not always the government who is going to make the solutions. Hunger is no laughing matter and the researcher knows that. The government and even the people are finding and making solutions to world hunger but until now there has been no solution to this problem but despite that the researcher thinks that there is indeed a concrete solution to Poverty and Hunger which for now hasn’t been made yet.

This paper focuses with how can the government and the people stop world hunger and world poverty?

B. Statement of the Problem

This study aims to answer this question:

1. How can the government and the PEOPLE stop hunger?

C. Significance of the Study

College Students specifically taking the course Law. This would be a big help to students taking up law because maybe someday that these students become attorneys, congressmen and even presidents in the future so this may help them solve what the government today doesn’t even try to solve. Hunger and poverty is a serious issue that needs a concrete solution. Who knows? There might be an improvement one day.

Teachers and Professors. Teachers and Professors would clearly understand the concepts that would be given inthis research paper. They would be able to connect with this because this is what happening in their generation and this is a preparation for them on how to contribute to lessen hunger.

Future Researchers.  This is for future researches that will have the topic hunger. The future lies in these  groups of people who will benefit from this research paper. This is to let these future researches what must they do and what to contribute to lessen hunger.

D. Scope and Delimitation

This study focuses on Hunger, The causes of hunger and its solutions. Hunger has been considered a threat to the human race, even back then. This is also to give emphasis on how the government gives little notice about this problem. The researcher believes that instead of making them do “magbagong buhay” why not give them “Bagong Bahay” or “Lupa”. This also focuses on what the PEOPLE should contribute to lessen this burden that haunts not just the poor but all people in different countries.

E. Materials and Methods

The research will a follow descriptive method. It will focus on the possible solutions for world hunger and poverty. It will describe what the government CAN do and what SHOULD they do. Information will be gathered from several credible sources and articles found in the internet

CHAPTER 2
DISCUSSION

How can the government and the PEOPLE stop hunger?

Definitions of Hunger

"The war against hunger is truly mankind's war of liberation."
- John F. Kennedy

Hunger is one cause of death of many in different parts of the earth but despite the horrible incidents caused by this nobody made a single answer but despite that the government has taken action to this problem. According to Global Issues,

“Over 9 million people die worldwide each year because of hunger and malnutrition. 5 million are children.”

It means all people including the children are affected by this. Being hungry and being malnourished is quiet the same because without the right amount of food intake the body will have nothing to get the nutrients from. It also stated there that:

“2 to 3.5 billion people have micronutrient deficiency”

Those numbers are ¼ of the whole population of the earth. If no action is done to stop this more people will obviously die. Imagine that? These people are suffering yet no solutions are made.

Definition of Poverty

Being poor are natural to people today. It’s like when you’re in a poor family, you were born poor and sometimes you even die poor. The researcher has pity to those people who died hungry and to those people who are less fortunate. Despite being hungry, being poor is also a cause of many deaths in other countries because they are poor so technically they lack money, if they lack money they can’t supply themselves with the right needs that they need.

Education is considered as one of the key to success but what if the children don’t have or rather didn’t have any education? According again to Global Issues:

“Children out of education worldwide: 121 million”

Without proper education these children will eventually experience Poverty or being poor. Another problem about the education is not all people can go to school because they don’t have enough money why? Because they are poor.

Different Tasks of every human against hunger

A. What the PEOPLE should do

Before this paper discusses what the people should do, let us enumerate first who consists this so called people. The people being described in this paper are the barangay captains, the townspeople, the mothers, the fathers and even the kids can help in any way they can.

As we all know hunger is a burden to people all around the world and yet no solutions are made to end or even lessen this monstrosity. There are many possible and effective solutions to these problems, one of the programs in channel 7 of Mel Tiangco, they have this program wherein they go one place where there are cases of malnutrition and they will give them free food especially the children. According to Huffington post written by Josette Sheeran that:

“We have the tools to respond with appropriate action in a humanitarian setting. When people are hit by disasters, we must save lives, providing food and work to get people back on their feet.”

That is where the PEOPLE come in. The people know that hunger is a he disaster that affects all people so technically hunger counts in the quotation above anyway the barangays or even normal people will weigh them accordingly and those with a problem in their weight or what they call them malnourished kids will be given a month of free healthy meal. The staff, together with the volunteer mothers of that barangay will join their effort to cook nutritious food for the kid for the said allotted time. And the target is to make sure that the children involved in the program will have an increase in their weight or they will achieve the ideal weight for their age. The food that they are preparing is not necessarily all meat but they combine it with vegetable that all the kids will enjoy eating. The researcher thinks if the government will extend their effort and go to barangays with serious health and hunger problem; the researcher also thinks that there will be a better place to live in this place. This one is according to wikihow written and edited by Potterwand, Jun and Teresa:

“Clean your plate! We have enough food in the world to feed everyone, all 7 billion people. But, too many greedy rich people waste food, and buy more than they need.”

Don’t waste food. For example when they’re in parties or any occasion that has food related to it, simply get the right amount for you and eat the that right amount, don’t waste it because many people are hungry and yet you throw food that you can’t finish or an even better idea instead of using the money for food to buy in parties, how about take some of it and donate it or make food and again donate some to the poor.

Rich people are also one kind of the so called “PEOPLE” in this paper. For the researcher these rich people are like the government. (Not all of them) they have the power and the money but sad to say they haven’t done anything to solve hunger. What they should do is donate even small amounts of money to support financial needs of poor people or donate food, clothes etc. It is such a shame how rich people don’t even consider on helping the needy (again, not all of them)

B. What the Kids can do

As stated above kids, students, teenagers can also help solve world hunger, well not technically solve by rather decrease it and the readers are going to ask “HOW CAN KIDS HELP?” well there is this website called Kids can make a difference where the kids actually stated their side how they can help.
There was this one boy who wrote his side. The title of his statement was how kids can stop world hunger by Philip Marrone, Long Island, NY-Grade 4. He said that:

“There are many ways that kids can help to stop hunger in the world. Kids can open a soup kitchen in a church basement. Kids can volunteer to serve the poor people. Kids can also send food like crackers, cookies, canned soup, cereal and rice. You should give up some of your food. Kids can raise money to send directly to the poor. We could raise money by having a car wash, dog wash; have a money collection, candy sale and a bake sale. You can adopt a child by sending twenty dollars a month to that child. I think kids should learn more about hunger.” (http://www.kidscanmakeadifference.org/kids-speak)

This kid has knowledge on the problem; hunger, unlike the others which don’t even know how to deal with this problem. Another kid whom has the name of Shannon Fitzgerald, Grade 4 stated that:

“Students can also help by holding a food drive. We would collect cans or boxes of food to be donated to local people in need of food. Also we could help at the soup kitchens in our local area.”

Like the first quotation stated by Philip Marrone, Donations is a big contribution to poor people and it is so easy to donate that even kids can do it. Another Shannon Fitzgerald stated is:

“There are many other ways for students to raise money to buy food for the hungry. Since the holidays are coming up, this is a good time to use these ideas for helping people. When I'm older, I will use these ideas for helping hungry people. I feel that nobody should be hungry.”

This part touched the heart of the researcher. Why? Because imagine a grade 4 student fully understands what poor and hungry people feel. He has great ideas on how to lessen hunger and just wait until these kids grow up and the researcher supports these kids 100% on how are they going to stop world hunger. It truly is right, what Dr. Jose Rizal said. The future lies in the hands of the kids.

C. What the government should do

One of the things that the government should do is provide a bill that every household must have a backyard garden wherein different vegetable will be planted and harvested for their own consumption. Not only will it make our body healthy but also will make our expenses for healthy food stretch even more. According to Think quest written by Michael, Nicola and Lyndon:

“The main area in which governments can help is by providing aid to the countries that are in greatest need of it. However, corruption and mismanagement is a major problem in these countries. Often aid schemes end up not helping to solve the problem at all - either due to corrupt officials extracting funds to support their affluent life styles or by the funds being spent on schemes that are obvious failures.”

The government should not allow unscrupulous people spend money for their own consumption only. Nowadays people always hear from the news that “this money” that are supposed to be used in a project, that the government spend millions and billions of pesos, when in the end, it was corrupted and was pocketed by the chosen ones. Please, give them a break, that millions and billions of money corrupted by the thieves, the money that the mothers and fathers earned for their salary and deducted as” tax”, could feed millions and billions of hungry mouth. That millions and billions of pesos could be the answer to world hunger.

Another solution is giving lands that the people who are poor need. Instead of giving them food why not give them lands to produce their own food. Another possible answer to that is instead of a job they should like clean the streets (Not discriminating) In exchange for free meals.

Going to education. As the researcher stated in the “definition of poverty” education is one of the keys to success but not all people can go to school due to financial problems what the government should do is start a program named “Study NOW pay LATER” or scholarship programs which can help people who are less fortunate in a way.

CHAPTER 3
SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMNDATIONS

Summary

This paper attempted to enumerate the possible and the concrete solutions to world hunger that can be done by the people and the government

The research is in descriptive research method wherein Information will be gathered from several credible sources and articles found in the internet. These are some of the research’s findings:

1. Hunger is more likely to increase if no one will have a 100% solution to this problem
2. Population is not a cause of hunger or poverty. People are hunger because they are poor not because the population is growing.
3. The government has increased food production which does not help solve world hunger.

Conclusions

Based on the finding of the study, the following conclusions are made:
1. There is no solution to world hunger yet, but the government is doing everything they can but it’s not improving or it’s not an effective solution to the problem
2. Poverty has always been the main problem in countries possible solutions to that are education, jobs, houses and even lands to produce food.
3. The people can help minimize this problem. Different barangays volunteer to help the needy which is a big help for other people who are less fortunate, they give donations like food, a temporary shelter and even clothes.

RECOMMENDATIONS

After making the conclusions of the study, the researcher hereby make the following suggestions or recommendations:

1. For  the government who keeps saying that they need to change their lifestyle, like the song abra composed, instead of “mag bagong buhay” make it “Bagong bahay na lang”
2. The government always say that things are going to change, that poor people will get a job, that their money is in safe hands, that there will be change in the country but for now there is no change, even a solution to handle this problem is absolutely 0. The increase on food supply is a bad idea because not all people can afford it, why not lower prices or even better give free food to people who are less fortunate.
3. The “PEOPLE” and the government need to help each other in order to solve or even lessen poverty.

Blog post 6: Solving World Hunger

Everyone thinks that the only way to stop world hunger is for the government to buy food. Lots and lots of food. For me that is the one and only reason to solve hunger. I  also thought of the population is one thing that causes poverty or hunger but I was wrong when I've done my research

The article that I read from the website "Global Issues" written by Anup Shah stated that:

"The current Summit [World Food Summit: Fives Years Later] was called by the United Nations to examine why hunger persists despite the 1996 Plan of Action. Progress lagged by at least 60% behind the goals for the first five years, and today conditions are worsening in much of the world."

Meaning from past years that they tried to Solve world hunger no progress was made. Things only got worse as years go by. They also examined hunger on 1996. It also stated there that:

"Without a drastic reorientation of policies, it will be impossible to meet the 2015 goal, and hunger may actually increase."

Government then until now still don't have any clue or idea on how to solve world hunger and to make things worse hunger will increase.

"While official documents prepared for the meeting decry a “lack of will” and call for “more resources” to be directed at reducing hunger, the fact is that more fundamental changes are needed."

Indeed changes are needed for us to solve poverty. You cannot solve hunger by just adding more resources alone, there has to be an improvement in the government also. Solving world hunger is one serious problem to deal with but with right and equal decisions are given to people by the government i think we can work this out.

Blog post 5: Operation : Population

Everyone has always blamed population for the cause of poverty which is cause of major hunger in other countries including here in the Philippines. Population is also one of many problems a country can have, well not exactly population but overpopulation .

This article was in my last blogpost which the title is "Population and Feeding the world" by Anup Shah in the website "Global Issues" and there is q quotation there and it stated:

"Oftentimes, people make the argument that population increases the lack of food or ability to provide enough food to sustain suck growth. However, for many decades food production has more than kept up with population growth."

Meaning that food production is much more big of a problem that population growth, maybe because population growth only began on the year 2000 i think. (opinion) but the lacking of food is experienced even in the past.

"As Greenpeace has noted, most hungry people live in countries that have food surpluses rather than deficits."

I did not know about this one but some people live in places that have food. meaning they are hungry yet they have food which means they don't use their resources properly. Lastly there is q quotation which stated:

"World hunger is extensive in spite of sufficient global food resources. There increased food production is no solution. The problem is that many people are to poor to buy readily available food. Therefore measures solving the poverty problem is what is required to solve the world hunger problem."

This is correct in more ways than one. Why? It is true that increasing food production will not help people who are poor because first they can't afford the food because they are poor and second even if they manage to buy food they wouldn't be able to feed every human being hre on earth why? because of OVERPOPULATION.

Blogpost 4: Major Major Problems of hunger

I for one get hungry but not the DYING kind of hungry. Hunger is a major problem not just here in the Philippines but also in other countries. It is a crisis and a burden to all specially poor people. But not all people experience hunger but that doesn't mean we can not experience it in the future so we've got to be ready when that time comes.

I found this article entitled "World Hunger and Poverty" by "Anup Shah" in the website "global issues" and this article gave little explanation but a huge meaning in terms of its content.

This article stated that the main cause of hunger is non other that poverty but first let me tell you a short meaning of the word poverty. It is the   I've noticed one part of this article which is very strong in meaning. That part is :

"...If efforts are only directed at providing food, or improving food production or distribution, then the structural root causes that create hunger, poverty and dependency would still remain."

Meaning if the government will continue to focus on how to gain and improve food then the whole poverty problem will not be solved at all and it would even make it worse. Another one that i saw is :

"...And so while continuous effort, resources and energies are deployed to relieve hunger through these technical measures, the political causes need political solutions as well."

This statement is correct because it is true, if government would help in ways like putting up more fund in food, expand land distribution for the poor so they can plant and harvest more crops and lower the prices of food.

The government is always the one who is being accused of why there is hunger, well its not entirely true. For me it's the governments fault and the peoples fault why? because let's face it, some of the government officials are doing there job right by helping people reduce and probably eliminate hunger but what does the people do, goof of, they don't do their jobs right that's why they experience poverty and most importantly they never listen to the government.

We may not experience the change we've been wishing for but if the solutions that the government are currently promising to the people were given, then we could call it a miracle that might even stop hunger.

Blogpost 3: Biology of Hunger

when i was in high school i would always get hungry because of boring subjects and the time running so slow for breaks.(recess and lunch), i hate that feeling when i'm hungry, when my tummy starts growling and hurting. You know what i hate more than being hungry? being very full. That heavy feeling in your stomach, you can't even walk straight because of heavy loads of food you've eaten. I learned my lesson back then. Only eat normal amount of food. Trust me, you wouldn't want to have that kind of feeling.

Did you ever had that feeling of being hungry? Of course, everyone has but did you ever wonder how hunger works inside our bodies? Did you ever ask yourself why do we get hungry? In the article "Hunger and Eating" by Takako Hara in the website "CSUN Edu" In that article it discussed a little bit about Biology of hunger and while I was looking at the article i found this:

"...Cannon and Washburn (as cited in Coon, 1995) came up with the stomach contraction theory which states that we know we are hungry when our stomach contracts."

In this article it stated a lot o theories, This is true mostly because we always say "Im getting hungry" when our stomach starts grumbling. Am I right? :D Btw did you know that when our stomach growls it means the fluids and gas move through the intestines. It prepares the stomach for food by moving the stuff in the intestines out of the way,This causes the intestines to squeeze small portions of water and gas making bubbly and gurgling noises. Where did i get this info? Google ;) (LINK) It's our alarm clock when it's time for lunch. Another theory is:

"...Glucose theory states that we feel hungry when our blood glucose level is low. Bash (as cited in Franken, 1994) conducted an experiment transfusing blood from a satiated dog to a starved dog. The transfusion resulted in termination of stomach contraction in the starved dog, and supported the glucose theory. But as LeMagnen (as cited in Kalat, 1995) suggests that blood glucose level does not change much under normal conditions."

This theory states that blood glucose is the cause of hunger. They experimented the dog and the starved dog is not starving anymore. (WHAT?!) When our glucose is running low that is when we experience hunger but when it is high of course we feel normal. This next theory is:

"...Heat-Production theory suggested by Brobeck (as cited in Franken, 1994) states that we feel hungry when our body temperature drops, and when it rises, the hunger decreases. This might be explain that we tend to eat more during winter."

I agree with this one. One time it was raining really badly, i was very cold and wanted some noodles. After having some noodles i became more hungry i don't know why. Maybe this is where Heat-Production theory comes in. It is true that when the temperature drops we become more and more hungry. Think about this. When were sick out temperature goes up and we don't want to eat and our we usually lose
our appetites. I think this theory is also the reason behind why we don't eat too much when we are sick.

Blog post 2: Hunger and Appetite

I have experienced hunger and I even got full. And my appetite is really

i found this article stating that this two things are the same based on a medical dictionary but they differ in meaning in english dictionary.

I have found this in one article entitled "Hunger vs Appetite" by "professor Gary Egger" on the website "Medical Observer" and it is about the difference between hunger and appetite. And yes those two are entirely different things. According to the article it stated that:

"...It doesn't take a degree in English literature to understand that 'need' and 'desire' are two separate things, and that a misunderstanding of this could be significant in any health prescription."

This sentence is true because as I wrote in the upper part of my blog post if you look at the English dictionary you will find a difference with hunger and appetite in terms of one specific word. Hunger is the NEED for food while appetite is the DESIRE of food. Here is another definition of hunger given by the article:

"...Basically, Hunger is the biological need to have to eat. It is a constant, urging drive to seek out food which doesn't go away with distraction."

Again hunger is the need to eat. Just imagine life without being hungry, everyone would be freakin thin! I would LOVE IT :D Being hungry is needed by all people, i mean else would we know when to eat? What if we don't have a clock an don't know the time then it's up to our stomachs to tell us when to eat by grumbling our tummies. Being hungry is normal and if you experience hunger then congratulation! It means you are a human being. The article also stated the meaning of appetite:

"...Appetite on the other hand, is a learned desire to want eat, that develops largely through learning. It can go away when distracted and is therefor generally easier to deal with genuine hunger when trying to reduce one's food intake."

Appetite is the desire to eat meaning even if we don't get hungry we still choose to eat because of our appetites. It also state there that appetite can be distracted while going back to Hunger it can't be distracted, anyway by distracted i mean you can keep your mind occupied until your appetite gone like watching TV, playing computer games, basketball and etc. and it is true that appetite is much easier to handle because you can control your appetite but not your hunger.

Hunger and appetite might be two different things but they are needed for a healthy body. Appetite can ruin your body figure if you let your appetite take over your body but sometimes appetite is a great way to waste your time, why? Eating is good for the body and it can really pass the time.

Blogpost 1: Hunger in different meanings

Everyone experiences hunger, of course. I for one always experience this. Not just me. If you're hungry what's your first move? Of course you would eat. what else will you do?

Food plays an important role in our life, this also gives us energy that we need to do all sorts of things. Without food we experience hunger. What is hunger? It is an uncomfortable feeling and is either caused by lack of food or skipping a meal, in other words, the human body is just like a car, it needs to be fueled every time you run out of gas. For me Hunger is normal for every human being living on this planet, i mean if you don't even get hungry you might not consider yourself a human being.
But eating is not enough to satisfy hunger. We need to feed our body with all the nutrients we need. Remember,we are what we eat. I remembered reading in an article that says" if you eat instant food, your life will be instant too, if you eat junk  food your life will be junked too. So we should be aware of what we put in our stomach. So we should eat healthy and live a healthy life. There are also other meaning of hunger besides food. Some times we also hunger for success, fame , and fortune. There are also times that we hunger for love and attention and affection. In those cases, we don't need food. We need to nourish our mind with beautiful thoughts. We should give our precious time if we hunger for fame and fortune. We should work very hard if we hunger  for success. We need to show our love one how much they mean to us if we hunger for their love and affection.

Do you imagine yourself being deprived of food for a long period of time? If you were deprived of food for a long period of time your mind will be cloudy. You will not think straight and you will have a hard time making decisions. I for one experienced this kind of things that's why I don't want to experience it again. According to research There are 870 million people who are undernourished and probably hungry right now ( Link ) So how lucky are you? Lets talk about  Hunger here in the Philippines. Hunger here is just one of many problems in this Country. Many street children or even grown ups who experience poverty also experiences hunger, what do you think is the out come of that? Of course malnutrition or even worse death. In Other Countries hunger is also a burden to them specifically Africa. Hunger in the Philippines and Hunger in Africa are two different things, I guess its pretty much more complicated for Africa. Africa is considered one of the most poorest country in the world therefore being poor means no money, no money = no food, no food = Hunger. We can rate a country if it is a developing country by the number of people who are suffering hunger. The more people suffering from hunger the worst it can get.I remember my father telling me that during their time most artist in America like Madonna, Michael
Jackson, and most of the popular singer then took part by singing and doing an album for free just raise money so that they can help the people in  Africa. That's the famous USA for Africa. I can't think of a better solution to stop hunger. But I can suggest a thing or two to stop hunger in my own way. I will study hard and I will find a good job someday and I will help the less fortunate ones by saving a part of my salary and I will buy food and I give It to the street children.

I found this one article in which it stated different types of hunger. It is entitled "The meaning of hunger" by Mary Desaulniers and the website is "ezinearticles" and it stated there, she explained and enumerated 3 types of hunger. The first one is real hunger:

"...There is the real hunger for sustenance that comes after a hard day's work. This hunger is necessary for our survival as it tells our body that it needs to replace the energy that has been expended."

Meaning when we are tired after a hard day's work or after going home from school, work, studying etc. we are technically hungry when tired. The energy in our body is very low. Energy is like the fuel to our bodies. When energy is low it means tat all the nutrients stored in our bodies are mostly gone due to working all day. The next one is:

"...Then there is the hunger we feel when we are bored-the Sunday afternoon variety that creeps into our bones like a bout of flu. You feel hungry even after a meal and you can't see to shake it off."

This one is pretty much experienced by everyone. That feeling when you're bored and there is nothing to do but eat and your body seems to go with it even if you're full and once you've eaten you would still crave for food. I don't know why but i think it's like a habit for us to eat even if we've already eaten lunch/breakfast/dinner when we have nothing to do. The last one is:

"...A more insidious form is the hunger we feel at the end of the day, a hunger that is ravenous, partly because we are hungry, but mostly because we are carrying ravages of the working world home and we have no other avenue to tame the beast."

Like the first definition of hunger, this is also related to after working. This meaning states that at the en o the day we are seriously hungry and it's correct. I experience this all the time. I get hungry when the day is about to end and i don't know why i don't get full. This type of hunger has bad effects:

"...This is the form of hunger that leads to unbridled bingeing and weight gain, and as long as the issues remain unsolved, the body will deposit layers of subcutaneous fat much like an armor to shield itself against what it feels to be an unjust grievance"

This is true in terms of the " WEIGHT GAIN" part. when we eat too much the result is getting fat. It also stated there that the fats in our body create layers and layers of fat like an armor. It stores the fats so that when we get hungry, the fats replace hunger as a substitute of food and boom,we get less hungry.
